BBC World News released an article today about workers in Peru who are working to restore their local glacier by painting the nearby mountain entirely white. Sound strange? The concept behind their strategy is exactly the same concept we’re promoting with our “Paint Project.” Painting the mountain white will keep the mountain’s surface cooler, increasing snow retention, just as painting cities white will decrease city temperatures reducing air-conditioning demands.
