To bring our collaboration with FILA to life, we set out to showcase the natural beauty and palpable energy of the Rivera Maya coastline. Fusing classic FILA iconography with local Caribbean flavor, the resulting collection is equal parts sport and lifestyle. Shot on location in raw and bucolic Cenote Jardin Del Eden and neighboring Tulum, the region lent an enigmatic energy to the shoot. Photographed and modeled by denizens of Tulum, the lookbook not only captures the collection, it paints a picture of the local region and culture that make the area magic.
Continuing our commitment to sustainably sourced, environmentally conscious production, the collection incorporates USA grown and organic cotton across an array of short and long sleeved tees as well as hats and hoodies that bear both brand’s logos. The color palette, tropical design and tranquil vibe of the garments are unmistakably inspired by the Yucatan, extending to our flamingo alongside the FILA F. All styles are available now on the our Webstore in limited quantities.

On the heels of our footwear project, we hit the streets of New York City to showcase our collaborative capsule with FILA. Shot as a complement to our Yucatan based lookbook, this visual narrative invites the viewer on a visceral tour of New York, which marries FILA sportswear with the Akomplice aesthetic. Modeled by burgeoning Brooklyn-based hip-hop artist, rMell and visual artist friend, DaRaun, the lookbook helps illustrate the versatility of the garments which flow seamlessly between the natural jungle of the Yucatan and the concrete jungle of New York, both of which happen to be where the collection was designed and conceived.
Shot by photographer Atticus Radley, the lookbook not only captures the collection, it illustrates rMell’s creative process as inspired by the city. Continuing our commitment to sustainably sourced, environmentally conscious production, the collection incorporates USA grown and organic cotton across an array of short and long sleeved tees as well as hats and hoodies that bear both brand’s logos. All styles available now in limited qualities only on our webstore.

For our latest collaborative creation, we have teamed up with Fila on an apparel and footwear capsule collection. Today we give you an up close look at the footwear portion of the collaboration. Part ode to Fila’s rich, 106-year history, part personal homage to the magic energy Patrick Liberty and Mike McCarney have experienced in the Yucatan of Mexico. Each aspect of the shoe is inspired by a distinct part of the region’s ecosystem, like the light green on the insole, tongue tag and heel, which represents jungle foliage and the Caribbean Sea. Purple on the outsole, logo and lining stands for ocean coral and the fruit produced by the tropical climate, while the light brown base symbolizes the sand and limestone on which the region is founded.
In addition to providing a picturesque backdrop for the lookbook, the Yucatan and Riviera Maya coastline is of particular importance to Akomplice. Co-founder Patrick Liberty calls the town of Akumal home and many of the company’s creatives frequent the region for various projects.
In addition to the kicks, each pair comes complete with a color-matched box that bears the Akomplice maxim “3rd Eye Open / Made In Love.” Quantities of the capsule collection will be limited and available exclusively on the Akomplice Webstore on Cinco de Mayo. Stay tuned for more information on the apparel portion of this project.
