FILA x Akomplice

May 3rd, 2017

For our latest collaborative creation, we have teamed up with Fila on an apparel and footwear capsule collection. Today we give you an up close look at the footwear portion of the collaboration. Part ode to Fila’s rich, 106-year history, part personal homage to the magic energy Patrick Liberty and Mike McCarney have experienced in the Yucatan of Mexico. Each aspect of the shoe is inspired by a distinct part of the region’s ecosystem, like the light green on the insole, tongue tag and heel, which represents jungle foliage and the Caribbean Sea. Purple on the outsole, logo and lining stands for ocean coral and the fruit produced by the tropical climate, while the light brown base symbolizes the sand and limestone on which the region is founded.

In addition to providing a picturesque backdrop for the lookbook, the Yucatan and Riviera Maya coastline is of particular importance to Akomplice. Co-founder Patrick Liberty calls the town of Akumal home and many of the company’s creatives frequent the region for various projects.
In addition to the kicks, each pair comes complete with a color-matched box that bears the Akomplice maxim “3rd Eye Open / Made In Love.” Quantities of the capsule collection will be limited and available exclusively on the Akomplice Webstore on Cinco de Mayo. Stay tuned for more information on the apparel portion of this project.

Akomplice|VSOP Las Coloradas Lookbook

April 14th, 2017

We continue to traverse an unexplored path with the brand. After hearing about the mystical pink lakes of Las Coloradas, we readied our Spring/Summer collection and set sail for the heart of Quintana Roo, Mexico. We selected local models to rock the collection against the pink lakes, blue skies and the natural beauty of Las Coloradas. While the lookbook displays denim jackets, raw edge button ups, and heavy knit blended t-shirts all made of almost entirely organic cotton and recycled poly, the story isn’t complete without the adventure it took to tell it. Check the full photo story here.

The Journey To Las Coloradas

April 13th, 2017

From street soccer with local children to immersion in the ritual of Carnival and getting kicked out from climbing salt mines, we experienced the Yucatan culture by participating in it. We set out to tell a story of Mexican-American unity and to do that we accepted the warm invitation into the Yucatan way of life and reciprocated. The lookbook and corresponding story stills are meant to act as a unification between two cultures, underscored by the tangible Mexican x American flag by Nacho Becerra. See the full photo story here.

THE MET

April 5th, 2017

A few months back when we were out in New York City, we decided to hit The Met to shoot some of our favorite pieces against some of the most famous works of art. Art on Art on Art. Enjoy.
