Akomplice Worldwide: Original Store, Ukraine

September 14th, 2012

Head to the city of Kharkiv, Ukraine and you will find the Original Store. Run by the homie, Jorgi, this shop has been kickin’ since 2008. Despite the economic difficulties of his home country Jorgi has continued to supply fly gear year after year. We sat down and spoke with him about fashion, the way the internet has changed the street-wear game and the notoriously beautiful Ukrainian women that walk his city’s streets. Check it, and more pictures after the jump.

Akomplice Tours the MOOG Factory

September 6th, 2012

Patrick, Mike and myself were out in Asheville, NC this week.  If you haven’t been, Asheville is a very interesting place. It’s like the Portland of the South, except  much smaller. The city is full of Hipsters, Hippies, Hicks and Hickies (a term Mike coined for the hippie/hick combo) that love art and being unique. We enjoyed our time visiting the city, which is surrounded by the beautiful Smokey Mountains. It is very lush and green and the people are well in-tune with and love the environment they live in.  Asheville is a hub of art and music and is well known for being the headquarters of the famous Moog Factory. Moog is very well respected in the music industry for producing some of the highest quality analog synthesizers, effect-processors and other musical gadgets. If you’re really interested you can watch a documentary about him free on Netflix. Many of the world’s top musicians, both current and classic, have used Moog instruments. Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, and the Beastie Boys are just a few of Moog’s high-profile clients.  Tours of the factory are typically only held on Fridays but we were fortunate to have a Moog employee by the name of Josh take us on a VIP tour around the facility to explain how each step of the process works.  Each machine is hand built and tested by several people. Their operation and the level of detail that goes into creating one of their machines is truly amazing.  Make sure to check out the rest of the photos after the jump.
