Magic Plant Series Release

February 19th, 2013

Here is our Spring one collection which pays tribute to magical plants. The designs are very subtle and subliminal. The collection is comprised of t-shirts, pullovers, a field jacket, a 5-panel hat and a botanically inspired skate deck. Each item within the collection is individually hang-tagged with the botany handbook which illustrates the genus and species of each plant. Each item is listed as either a stimulant, psychoactive, opiate or euphoriant. At Akomplice we’re constantly seeking to traverse the trail less traveled both literally and figuratively which we’ve communicated through this distinct collection which we like to think of as nature inspired streetwear. All photographs the photo tees were composed and taken by British bred Farmer Dobbs. If you didn’t make it to one of your local Akomplice retailers on Friday when it released, we got you here with some of the last of the stock.

POSTER BOY

February 13th, 2013

Introducing the Akomplice poster boy, Matt Masciocchi. In addition to repping the company with his good looks, Matt holds down both the sales and production elements that are essential in making the designs come to life. Matt is one of the most hard working and diligent members of the team, taking on a great deal of responsibility and addressing it with integrity, always getting business handled when it needs to be done. Everyday Matt deals with countless retailers, printers, producers and customers, handling each individual with courtesy and grace. Despite constantly carrying a lot of company business on his shoulders, Matt looks on the bright side and keeps harmony in the office with a good attitude and a friendly demeanor. Get to know the man further with the interview below:

1. You know Japanese and that’s awesome. How does your Japanese come in Handy?

On a day to day basis, it doesn’t really come in handy at all to often here in the US since Spanish is the predominate 2nd language. My Japanese language skills helped me communicate to Japanese clients directly and expand some of our business in Japan, which has been awesome for me. It also helps me impress people when we go out to eat Japanese and keeps my mind active when I get bored. Ever so often I’ll luck out and meet a cute Japanese girl and be able to converse with her directly. Foreign women love it when a foreign man can speak to them in their language.

2. You are the Akomplice poster boy. Would you ever consider becoming a full-time model?

For sure! I tried modeling once in college and would definitely do it again if the chance presented itself. Back in college the photographer I hired kind of screwed me so I’d love to get a second chance at it.

3. We’ve seen your career with Akomplice blossom. What drives you to get the job done so well?

My Parents and grandparents instilled a really solid work ethic in me from a young age and living in Japan for a few years helped reinforcer those traits. It’s all about enjoying what you do, doing your best, working till the job is done, and turning in work that you believe in and are proud of. If I don’t strive to do my best at something I feel like I’ve let down myself and my family. I want to achieve things in my life that make my great grandparents proud of their lineage and set up my children and grandchildren to succeed.

4. You are one of the friendliest people I know. How do you go day to day being so kind hearted and awesome?

I’ve realized the truth behind the words, “Do unto others as you would have done unto you,” and try to live my life that way. My main goal in life is to be happy and full of love and the easiest way to do that is to keep a positive outlook on a day to day basis. I try to be open, kind and loving to everyone and everything I interact with on a daily basis because I want kindness, happiness and love in my life. If you spend a day focusing on opening your heart and loving everything you’ll find a great deal of love and happiness reciprocated back to you. It’s a wonderful practice and I highly recommend trying it.

5.Why do Mike and Patrick call you Carlton Cat?

Carlton Cat is a nickname I’ve adopted due to my plush tastes. I really love nice things and take great pleasure in heightened comfort and lounging out to the max when I get a chance. Think of a cat curled up on his satin pillow in front of a blazing fire and that is Carlton Cat in his element. But Carlton Cat isn’t a softy, he can still go out into the wild and live like a champion. I love nature and am just as happy out there as I am in the plush comforts of society. Opposite ends of the spectrum but I love them both.
