Akomplice | VSOP Spring/Summer 2016 Lookbook

With Colorado’s Escalante Canyon as our backdrop, we bring both of the brands, Akomplice and VSOP, together for our latest lookbook. Modeled by Paul Kimpling of the Colorado Forest Service, the lookbook serves to display the range of each brand’s Spring/Summer offerings, while showcasing the belief that “simplicity is the ultimate sophistication” (Leonardo da Vinci). Visualized as a complement to the grassland and red rock desert surroundings, the lookbook vignette functions as a symbol for our brand’s connection to, and appreciation of minimalism and nature’s intrinsic symmetry. Shot in our Colorado backyard, the lookbook functions as a meditative and transportive experience for the viewer. This sentiment emanates from our belief in a conscious balanced work approach, which is why we allow our employees ‎to have remote work periods and daily meditation.

While VSOP centers on silhouette development and material selection, the crux of Akomplice is bold and in-your-face patterns. The common thread among each brand is a sustainable approach to production. Made using organic cotton and recycled polyester, we set an industry standard from a material footprint perspective. Holding to the belief that art is made when love, passion and vision are the driving forces in creation, we look to other young creatives in love with their craft for inspiration. Drawing inspiration from the likes of Chance the Rapper and Kendrick Lamar, we look to adjust the industry paradigm by putting passion ahead of profit.

Our Spring deliveries are available now via the Akomplice webstore, with Summer’s delivery set to drop worldwide on June 26th.

For our latest creative project, Patrick Liberty had the vision to bring together iconic photographer Ricky Powell and famed street artist David Flores. Both artists are close friends and past collaborators. The concept was to meld together their disparate but complimentary artistic styles. Starting with an iconic bedrock of Ricky Powell portraits featuring luminaries in the arts, music and sports world, the photos were then adapted by David Flores in his signature stained glass style. The outcome is an innovative collection featuring creative illustration and photography expressed across multiple mediums including made in the USA skate decks, custom fit organic cotton t-shirts, as well as limited edition artist prints and Akomplice team favorite, the West Coast Mean Mug.

Be sure to follow the hilarious Ricky Powell @thelazyhustler and the nonstop muralist David Flores @davidfloresart on instagram.

KirkKnight1We caught up with our homie Kirk Knight of Pro Era to chop it up about life, music, and his Late Knight Special Album. Kirk has been a strong Akomplice supporter from the first time he was introduced to the brand years back by our mutual friend and photographer Jessica Lehrman. After that, he was featured in our Beastcoast Magic Plant Lookbook. We saw a special talent in him early on and we are happy to see him blowing up now. Read on to get an inside look into the mind of one of the beast Coast Movement Leaders after the jump.
