During my visit to Taiwan I was given the opportunity to travel to the southern tip of the island and visit an Akomplice retailer, Afire. I arrived in Kaoshiung at 1:30pm, jumped out of the cab and was warmly greeted by O. King, the owner and founder of Afire, as well as his English translator Josi. Afire is a dope shop with two loactions in Taiwan, one in Tainan City and the other in Kaoshiung. They carry mostly US brands which is uncommon for the streetwear boutique scene in Taiwan since Taiwanese brands dominate the market. O. King showed us around in Kaoshiung then we jumped in the whip and bounced to Tainan City, just an hour north of Kaoshiung, for the first Afire store. After checking out the shop and filling up with local Tainan delights, we met up with long time fashion head, Stan Lee. Lee has worked with X Large for the past 8 years, and solely distributes Paul Frank in Taiwan. He is about to branch into a whole new league outside of streetwear in the upcoming seasons. The day was packed with good people, good shops, and good food. Anny and I jumped on a bus and headed back to Northern Taiwan. We arrived late in New Bamboo around 3am finally and passed out. Shout to my Taiwan fam! Peep more photos.
